Report Methodology: Transparency and Precision

How we measure the 'weight' of the internet and draw ethical conclusions

Our reports are based on rigorous, repeatable research. We believe the fight against digital obesity must be grounded in hard data. Below, we present how we collect, process, and interpret data to ensure the highest quality and transparency of our analysis.

Four Phases of Web Performance Research

01

Data Collection and Scaling

We use a combination of WebPageTest, Lighthouse, and our own research scripts to anonymously test thousands of key domains from various sectors and regions. We use simulations of different device types (mobile, desktop) and network conditions (3G, 4G, fiber optic).

02

Weight and Dependency Analysis

In this phase, we thoroughly analyze data transfer (page weight), resource distribution (HTML, CSS, JS, Media), and the dependency map of external scripts (trackers, analytics, ads). We identify the sources of 'Bloat' and calculate the Digital Bloat Ratio (DBR).

03

Ethical and Environmental Assessment

Beyond technical performance, we also evaluate the ecological cost (estimated energy consumption) and ethics. We check the extent to which scripts invasively track the user and violate their privacy, which is key to our mission.

04

Conclusions and Recommendations

The final step is transforming raw data into practical conclusions and trend detection. The report contains clearly formulated recommendations for developers, companies, and policymakers, promoting the adoption of 'lighter' practices.
